We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort Feb. 26-28, 2013. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. We arrived at 9 am on a flight from a stay in Curacao and they put us in the oceanfront room we reserved by 10 am! The restaurants were good and the happy hour at the bar was great! They do have a bit of a problem sometimes with the birds on the chairs leaving their business, but I imagine all the places do! There is currently construction but it wasn't bothersome and will be very nice when completed! We really enjoyed the beautiful beach & magnificent sunsets!
My first visit to Aruba was the August 2, 2011. It was a great experience for me, so enjoy all the facilities of the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Aruba. It is a first class hotel, and excellent guest service.
I would like to continue staying in this hotel every time you visit this beautiful island.
We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort and Casino, Palm Beach, Aruba for 16 days ... our 27th stay at this property, to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. Every visit has been most enjoyable. As we always tell our friends and family, it's a Holiday Inn ... nothing more, nothing less. Don't expect all the amenities of a Hyatt (you won't pay those prices either) and you will NOT be disappointed. The grounds are well maintained, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the entire staff is very friendly and helpful ... always greeting us with a big smile. No matter what you need or ask for (sometimes they accommodate you before you even ask) they always respond with a smile and take care of your every need. Over the years, we have visited many islands and stayed in many hotels. No place on earth feels quite like "home" as a stay at the Holiday Inn Aruba.
We can never thank all our friends there for everything they've always done to make our trips enjoyable and memorable. We've spent 6 weeks there this past year and are already looking forward to our 28th stay ... real soon!!!!
This was our 14th visit, we go each year to celebrate our anniversary Thanksgiving weekend for 10 days. The hotel staff, including maid, bartenders, beach chair and towel staff are so courteous. We have had the best accomodations given to us and we hope to return this year. There is so much to do, if you want to, or - we can stay on the beach for as long as we want and watch the sunset.
This will be our 4th year at the Holiday Inn. We are very satisfied with the service. No problemos! Love the beach and love the management. Love the bar and the service is great. Why pay more anywhere else when you have the best beach the best of everything. We go every January. See you soon beautiful Aruba in 2 1/2 weeks. We stay for 2 weeks. Yay!
Aug 31-Sept 7th 2008
This was our first trip to Aruba and we both enjoyed it. We read lots of reviews on the Holiday inn on this site and on other hotel review blogs so we were prepared for the worst and pleasantly surprised when we got there!! The 4* rating is accurate. This is not a 5* so dont go here if you are expecting 5*. It was great to be in an all-inclusive where you can drink the water right out of the tap!! We never had to worry about what we were eating or if there was ice in our drinks. The hotel room we had (Aruba tower, 7th floor) was all newly renovated, I believe all towers are now fully renovated. Nice new bathrooms with stand up showers, fresh paint and interior all nicely done (typical Holiday Inn style). The gym is excellent, new equipment, nice view of the beach, towels, tv's to watch. The outdoor bar, Iguana, has a great drink menu (all-inclusive guests would have to pay a bit extra if you want a bottle of beer vs beer on tap). Nice food too. The Seabreeze offers great lunches (the burger is great!) if you don't like the buffet or Iguana's menu. I know other people were fussed by having to get up at early hours to reserve a palm hut but we just wandered up at whatever hour, took what was left or if it was all taken we just pulled the lounge chairs into the shade of the palm trees. The casino has daily bingo for $7/card. Be careful if you join in on the nightly poker tables, this is the largest casino, so many are nightly regulars and they know how each other play very well. Yes, there was a long line at check-in but if you have a holiday inn priority card you'll move to the express line. They maintain the beach area well. We had one day of a storm which brought up tons of seaweed, they worked hard at clearing it away. The water is lovely, its as warm as the air. The only thing that bothered us a bit was that since this holiday inn has guests who are all inclusive plus guests who are not, every time you order any drink or food you have to sign your name and room number, you just don't order, take, then walk away. But that doesn't slow you down too much!! We enjoyed our time and would definitely return again.
The Holiday Inn: Unhappy on the "Happy Island"
Finally, after several complaints over two days of a completely dead and unusable telephone, I said I was going to post our problems with the Holiday Inn over the Internet, our room telephone was checked. Guess what? After they went up to our room to "check" the phone, it was working. Hmmm... Not only was our phone not working, but the shower would not dispense hot water.
The "run around": Make sure you don’t rely on the front desk check-in staff who say that you have everything you need for your stay. You "may" need tickets for each person, each breakfast, and not just the paid voucher. The hostess told us that we needed to get the "yellow tickets". After three attempts to get the tickets, the front desk hostess said that "all you had to do was stop at the cashier and she would have let you in." When I told her that nobody was stopping at the cashier- everyone seemed to have yellow tickets- I was asked "If everyone was running into the ocean, would you follow them?
HOW NICE
The Excelsior Casino- Player’s Club: When the computer system is down, there is no sign posted. I was advised that the slots were not broken, but "the system is down- we can’t track your Player’s Card or give you a ticket payout, but you can still play." The system was "down" at various intervals over three days. What good is a Player’s Club if you can’t earn points?
The Tour Desk: We booked a tour that included the Aloe Factory for Tuesday, July 8. That tour was "cancelled"- or, actually, should not have been booked in the first place. We later found out that the Aloe Factory was giving free tours that week. When I asked the booking agent what to do, as it was our last ? The tour that she recommended, and we took, did not include the Aloe Factory.
Celebrating 50 with first cousin. Adrienne and Patty Had a wonderful time, beach is the best, food great, shopping great, people very friendly, church good, many things to do and will definitely be back. It will be a place I will vacation again.
From 26 Feb to 11 Mar 08, my wife and I were guests in room 5582 of the Aruba tower. Amazing room with the best housekeeper we have ever had. Ocean front and the Aruba tower is quiet. Hotel staff went out of their way to make our vacation pleasant. Got in at 11:00pm and took cab to hotel since car not ready. Desk employees very good to us. Got up at 5:30 every morning and went out and stood in line for hut. Made many new friends in doing this. This is one of the best holiday Inn's we have ever spent some time in and we are world travelers. We are returning again in six months and will stay in the same tower. Forget the negative comments, we are seniors and we know hotels. Make you stay inexpensive.
We have stayed @ the HI 3 time in the last 2 years and during that time they were in the process of renovating the ARUBA and BONAIRE TOWERS.
This MAY 2007 we were expecting a little more from these rooms..... we were in the ARUBA tower and it was already looking shabby.
We love the pools and location...great beach too...but this room was worn, soiled and looked like it was never renovated.
We moved from a "renovated" room in the BONAIRE tower that had no AIR COND.
All in all first timers get an upgraded room or stay somewhere else.
We like the place but wish the had better maint.
I JUST WANT TO SAY WE WERE @ YOUR HOTEL 4/15/07-4/20/07 & IT WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. WE HAD A GREAT OCEAN VIEW ROOM ON THE 5TH FLOOR, THE SHOWS BY THE POOL @ NIGHT WERE GREAT,WE DID MASSAGES THAT WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, & THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR.
My wife and I vacationed here May 18-23, 2006. First, as we checked in, I asked about a free upgrade to ocean-view, the woman at the desk (Chantel, I think) said, sure! Our vacation was looking good! The view (Curacao Tower) from our balcony was awesome! Didn't get all-inclusive, didn't need to. You could get a muffin and fruit for breakfast in the lobby or walk a short distance for donuts. Restaurants were very close by. You had to get in line early for a tree shelter, no big deal there. Prices at the hotel, (food) were high and service was not very good. We purchased a bottle of vodka and had diet and vodka on our balcony in the evening, watching the people stroll by the beach. There was a bar with live music each night right next to us. A wedding one evening and they shot fireworks! Took the bus to town one day and a cab ride to a restaurant near the lighthouse for a drink and watch the sunset. The room was pretty nice. The beach was a few steps away.
Sept. 21, 2006 Just got back from the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Aruba. It was our 7th and LAST trip there! I would not recommend this place to anyone! They are doing renovations and the outside dining area is closed. The shows were basically the same night after night! The food/buffet was TERRIBLE!!! If you like rice, beans and chicken almost everyday this place is for you. The kids menu consisted of fries and I'm not sure if you would call them chicken wings. The outside bar is closed so the only place to get sodas/drinks is in the indoor lobby bar which tends to get crowded in the evenings. You can dine at the Da Vinci (the Italian restaurant) as long as you are dressed and men are in slacks and have reservations. There is no place between 4 and 5 p.m. to get any type of food! The outside restaurant, the Seabreeze is closed when the other restaurants are open. You can no longer have lunch outside. The new restaurant (the Corals) looks like a hospital cafeteria and the food tasted about the same. The buffet was the worst food I have ever had! There are coffee pots in the rooms, but they no longer give you coffee or tea to make them. The only good thing is the staff is nice. Otherwise, if you plan to enjoy the outdoors there, this is not the place!
Bars good. You better learn to like Balashi beer or pay $2.00 surcharge each for another kind of beer. (Only 8 ounces. I like Holiday Inn but do not recommend the all-inclusive program for food. Breakfast crowded and average, dinners okay, much better to try local restaurants. All-inclusive does not include water sports, rafts, etc. I guess I am spoiled by Sandals Resorts where all inclusive means all inclusive. Tips are expected by all even though they are suppose to be included. Nice place, beautiful beach, just watch all-inclusive part. Rooms wouldn't get cool enough and shower wouldn't get warm enough. Make sure you like the wind because it never stops. I did have a very good time and meet a lot of nice people at the resort.
Some things were great. The fine dining at nite was tasty and the service was wonderful. Breakfast was pretty good also. The lunch menu was too limited and for the most part there was not enough help. The casino waqs as update as we saw along that strip of hotels. There was a lack of entertainment in the evenings. Had a good group in the casino, where no one cared, and not much else. The rooms were a little below average. We loved the island but probably would not come back to the h.i.
been to aruba 7 times, and miss brenda james made the holiday inn the best atmosphere, i have made friends 4 ever..donnA NY
We stayed at the hotel for a week. The hotel itself
is clean and the common areas are maintained very well.
The staff was courteous and very helpful. We are glad
we did not take an "all inclusive" package, because the
food was below expectations. They really need to improve that.
The room we were in smelled heavily of cigarette smoke.
That would be okay if you're a smoker. The view
from the room ( we had ocean front ) was fabulous,
however, so the room was of little importance. They
cleaned it pretty well, but some lights were not
operational, and the fridge cabinet door would not
stay closed. Just a minor nuisance.
I am not found of being "tagged", so I did not like
having to wear a colored "hospital" band while there.
They said they were for security. The grey was for
"non inclusive" guests, and the blue for "inclusive"
guests. I took mine off the first day there and it
did not seem to matter. I think it is an inappropriate
way to identify guests. It leaves a mark if you are
in the sun, and it is uncomfortable and cuts you in
your sleep.
The beach at the hotel is beautiful!! It would be
nice to have chairs available to sit on the beach
after dark. They get chained up. I'm sure that is
for security too, but it is still inconvenient.
All and all it was a pleansant stay. The pina coladas
were the best we found on the island.
The island of Aruba and the people are wonderful.
Thank you for a great VACATION.
I have been to Aruba 3 yrs in a row, and will only stay at the Holiday inn, the beach is the best on the Island.
People from other more expensive hotels wander over here. Room are Holiday Inn type, but if you want Value, Value....you pay 1/2 the price of others, and the location is great
